Habur Border Gate, located 17 km from Silopi district of Şırnak province, was established with the decision of the Council of Ministers dated 18.07.1969. In terms of foreign trade, Habur Border Gate is one of the most important border gates of Turkey. This border crossing is an important connection point in Turkey's foreign trade and logistics relations with Middle Eastern countries. Being located on the historical Silk Road route and especially connecting the port of Mersin to the Middle East countries, it provides important commercial advantages both nationally and regionally. Therefore, the volume of trade through the Habur Border Gate has been increasing over time. In addition, Habur Border Gate is an important point for both the region and the country for the Development Road Project, which has been discussed recently and attracted intense media attention. The main purpose of the congress is to highlight the commercial and logistical importance of the Habur Border Gate and to encourage academic studies in this field. Another main objective is to draw attention to the potential of the Habur Border Gate and reveal its potential contribution to regional development. Therefore, in order to reveal the importance and potentials of Habur Border Gate, Habur International Foreign Trade and Logistics Congress will be organized by Şırnak University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences on 8-10 May 2025.
